Dubtechno Jam featuring Solar 42F light sensors

Good morning guys,

after months of pure ambient production, it was the time to finally put together the Solar 42F with my favorite Groovebox, the Analog Rytm MKII and create a piece in my favorite music style. The video is some exclusive preview and not up on Youtube yet.

"Zwei" is a Dubtechno jam in which I excercise with the light sensors of the Solar to create slide effects with my hand and support the Track coming from the Analog Rytm. I think this could be a direction for the upcoming shows: Having the Analog Rytm playing the base of a track and putting the Solar on Top makes it easier to adjust the pitches while playing the show.

I also synced the light system for the very first time with the AR clock and it switched between scenes. I need to add a little controller for faster access, but…

Early preview: Solar 42F Jam & LED Bars

Good evening my sweet Perlies,

late at night I have a special video for you guys. Special, because I created a setup with my brandnew LED light system ;) These are part of my upcoming shows. I use a little DMX interface to control the bars with Lightkey, a software for creating light animations. Right now, I was happy that all got connected haha there are no custom animations right now. But it works ;D

For the track, I use a new setup: The Solar 42F is routed into Albeton where I put some Big Sky Magic on top. I use this setup because I gonna add the Analog Rytm in the future and its tracks wiill be mangeled separately, so this setup is more of a preparation for upcomig tracks.

You can download this jam below, as usual. I mastered it a bit. The video is not on YouTub…

...and all live with that single instrument? WOW!

Another Jam with the Solar 42F

Hi guys ,

at the moment my jams are focused on learning the Solar 42F, what else :D it's still a big challenge to make music spontaneously with this instrument. The preparations still take far too long for me - it can easily take half an hour to tune all the synth engines.

Since my goal is to play a live show with it, I've put the focus on getting the pitching done in a proper way and I don't yet know how I'm supposed to manage 1 complete hour without a break for pitch corrections. Maybe one of you has the Solar as well and can give me tips on how to configure it for a live performance longer than 15 minutes.

Another challenge: I am about to add a groovebox to the Solar 42F. I have some specific ideas on my mind, but I have no idea how…

First Jam with the Solar 42 F

Hi people

I share some pics of my latest purchase some days ago and here follows the first jam with the "Solar 42F". I named the track “Kind” because this instrument has many buttons, switches and lights that let the child in me play and go on a journey of discovery.

Of course I use an Arabic scale in this first jam :D If you know my music, you also know my preference for Middle East influences. After my first attempts, I was glad that I got the 24 oscillators more or less in tune with each other - I think that was my biggest difficulty.

Download the audio file below as usual :D

Have fun :D

'Modulation' - Drones without drones

Happy weekend folks,

my new show “Modulation” is ready to premiere during the ‘Synth Club’ on February 22 presented by @petitevictorycollective ! The entire performance is based on the Lyra-8 plus some Digitakt and Cosmos inserts, I really can’t wait to play what I have been working on for such a long time.

This is the name giving track titled 'Modulation'. I released it super spontaneously on my Website and Bandcamp today, but you can also download it below.

Happy weekend xxx

'Crackles' - Ambient Drones with Lyra-8 and Cosmos

Hi guys,

another Jam, made with the Lyra-8 and Cosmos. I don´s use the Looper so often I must admit - but if I use it, the result is amazing as this jam.

Download as usual below (I mastered the audio a bit).

Rise (Ambient Drones with Lyra-8 and Cosmos)

Hi guys,

I am currently shaping my new live set that I gonna perform only with the Lyra-8 and its sibling, the Cosmos. I realised its almost impossible to make a "setlist" or something similar, with start presets, as I mostly end up with something completely different than I thought I would go to. The Lyra is also changing the way I think of "releases" as the tracks I record with it are not repeatable - they are more like snapshots of a moment.

I now use the naming of "ideas" instead of "tracks" in this setting and this track is a good example for this concept: "Rise" has a quite good "preset" that I noted on a piece of paper. I can easily repeat this and get similar results - it's of course not a replicate but It comes close to the idea and goes somewhere else then.

SUN - Melodic Jam with Vermona Perfourmer

Hello my friends,

hope you guys survived Jamuary :D I had to let go after the first weeks because I am fully focused on my new performance for the ‚Synth Club‘ event. The setlist will have some deep ambient tracks but also melodic parts like this.

I hooked up a hybrid setup which works really beautiful, I used it before but this time I also added the Lyra-8 (which I don’t use in this particular jam) and the Perfourmer MKII which are both routed into the Cosmos Looper - together with some spiced sounds coming out of the computer (in this track it´s the Reese-Bass and some texture samples).

I really love these tracks! Do you think it would make a good opener for the set?

Download the mastered jam below as usual or watch the YT video.

Time for a melodic Vermona Jam !

Hi guys,

I thought it was time to make another sweet and ethereal Perfourmer track. This one is titled „Hope“ and I think I will include some of these sort of tracks in my next liveset.

The sequence of the performer is played by a plugin called „Ryhtmizer Fusion“. It creates an arpeggio based on a chord progression in the clip, but it adds random and tons of variations, based on knobs and buttons.

The track is supported by some single notes coming from the Lyra-8 (it also adds some distortion to the Perfourmer sound).

As usual, you can download a mastered audio file below - or watch the Jam video.

Ambient Session 012 - Jamuary 21

Hey guys,

another Lyra-8 jam. I performed this drone as part of Jamuary 2025 - it's also an exercise for my upcoming performance on February 22 which will be Ambient only. I am running a sequencer called "Rhytmizer Ultra" on my Macbook, playing a random sequence on the Vermona Perfourmer. It's output is routed into the Lyra-8 so I can put heavy distortion and the delay effects on it. All audio goes then into the magic Cosmos and where it creates a beautiful background for the Perfourmer Sounds.

Below the mastered audio as a free download and the jam video as well. The audio is a 10 min cut from

a 22 min session that I add as an audio download as well (this one is not mastered, sorry).

Ambient Session 011 - Jamuary 18

Hello folks,

hows everyone doing? I had a very. busy day with discussions about the future of the Zurich Synth Table and calls about upcoming events. I´m also researching for a PA that I´m going to buy soon and we´re checking out the location for the first "Sonic Hike" tomorrow. Exciting! That´s why Jamuary 18 is "just" a lttle drone Jam with the Lyra-8. Lay back, close your eyes and relax (best with headphones!).

You can listen the Jam on YouTube below or download the mastered audio edit as well.

Ambient Session 010 - Dec 10

Hi my friends,

This track is made for Jamuary 08 - Prompt: What happens if your sound enters unknown space? Well when you play the Lyra, this is a constant question that answers itself while tuning the knobs. But when I read the black hole thing, I instantly had the Eventide Reverb on my mind and that let me use a 50 sec tail on my Big Sky :D

As usual you can download the audio session below.

Enjoy :D xxx

Jamuary 07 - Ambient Session 009

Hey my friends,

this is a jam I made for Jamuary 2025. The Lyra-8 demonstrates its sheer brutality and spreads a pure post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Such a beast!

You can download the full audio below or watch the YouTube Jam.

Ambient Session 008 - Dec 28

What's up guys!

Today I wanted to create something different with my Lyra. This jam is part one of a longer session with the analog synth. It is basically a constant rhythm, permanently modulated by the Lyra effects and LFOs. Parts of the sequence are conserved and looped on the Soma Cosmos, giving the entire performance another layer of depth.

As usual, you can download the audio below (this time 2 audio files from different parts of the session) or just watch the Jam vid embedded below as well.

Enjoy the simpleness and happy Sunday :D

Ambient Session 007 - Dec 26

Hello my friends.

today's jam is not 100% dawless as I sequenced the Vermona Perfourmer with Ableton Live and put some reverb VST on it. The Lyra-8 is running into the Cosmos and then into the Big Sky pedal in parallel, all together mixed in my Air 192 audio interface.

The sequences of the Vermona are generated in realtime with a software called "Rythmizer Ultra", a pretty flexibel MIDI generator.

As usual, you can download a mastered copy of the audio below. Or simpy watch the Jam video :D In any case - let me know what you think, I´m happy to receive your feedbacks.

Ambient Session 006 - Dec 22

Hello my friends,

This Jam combines the analog beauty of the Vermona Perfourmer (sequenced by Ableton Live). the Soma Cosmos and the Soma Lyra-8 into a lush ambient dronescape that reminded me of a blooming flower. The Perfourmer output is hooked up to the Lyra-8 input (thus its mono only to add its filters and delay effects.

You can download the audio below as usual or just watch the embedded jam video.

Have a nice evening and enjoy holiday season :D

Ambient Session 004 - Dec 14

Happy weekend everyone!

"Ambient Session 004" is another dawless ambient jam - I wanted to have a rhythmic element in the structure and achived this using a simple pattern created on the Elektron Model:Cycles. I really enjyoyed the live modulation while I performed the track.

As always, you can download a masteted audio snippet below or watch the full performance on YouTube!

Ambient Sessions - Dec 9

Happy Monday everyone,

I recently stumbled across a nice tutorial on YouTube from Synth seeker and loved the way he explained his way of using the Lyra-8 to create beautiful rumbles and soundscapes.

I thought it could sound great in combination with the Cosmos so here we go - another live jam with my ambient setup. I just forgot to use the Cosmos LOL.

From now on, I will share only edited versions for download - mostly 10 minute cuts that contain the best part of a session. You can still enioy the entire jam in full length on YouTube, both is embedded below.

Ambient Sessions - December 7

Happy weekend my dear friends,

the weather here in Zurich is aweful - cold, rainy and dark. Perfect for making some ambient music. This time, I swapped the Digitakt with the Elektron Model:Cycles. I have some super nice presets on it which made some great atmospheres.

You can download the audio as usual below. Let me know what you think and have a lovely Saturday everyone! xxx Mat

Ambient Sessions - Dec 2nd

Hello my happy people.

I caught a big, fat cold in Cologne last week and felt so bad for a few days that I had absolutely zero motivation to present my new acquisition - the Soma Cosmos - in a jam.

But today was finally the day! I'm not healthy yet, but I was in the mood for a short jam. That's a good sign! The Cosmos is a great device and in combination with the Lyra simply fantastic. The constantly evolving soundscapes are so subtle and organic!

I'll be streaming these live jams more often in the future. it's like a kind of meditation or relaxation for me. Let me know what you think. As always, you can download the audio below.

Kisses x

Hello my friends,

I have another download for you :D I'm running late with my new setup for Cologne - as usual LOL So I need to exercise every day. For me, one of the best ways to rehearse a new live set is to record jam videos. It forces me to rehearse the pattern intensively before recording and the performance stays in my mind much better this way!

So here's another one called “Melodie” and is the fastest thus closing track of my new set. In principle, I mainly practise the transitions between parts in the jam with the help of the effect machines.

What do you think? Lemme know :D

Sehr geil 👏💗

Hello my friends,

I hope everyone is doing well out there! After my return home from the trip to Copenhagen, I´m preparing my next liveset for gigs in Cologne and Zurich with some really chilled new dubby patterns. Using my little dawless setup with added Zen Delay, I have so much fun with it!

This one is playing on the slower side with a speed of 115bpm, providing a super chilled bassline and a nice chord. It's titled "Klangwelle" and you can download the MP3 below (or simply watch the YT video).

Enjoy and let me know what you think about it!

Love it! Nice intro, awesome vibe. Very cool.

Helly my friends,

this is my first track created with the little Roland Aira Compact synths: ‚Dawn‘ is a 1-take melodic arp jam that I really love! It got released yesterday on ‚Hope Volume 1‘, a compilation hosted by Petite Victory Collective.

You can download 'Dawn' exclusively and free below and watch the jam video. If you like the track, I suggest you checkout the entire compilation. 100% of the samplers earnings will be donated to environmental and humanitarian projects of the PVC Initiatives.

Hello fellas,

here's a new jam vid plus audio download for you.

I am playing 2 more gigs this week and prepared a new set of tracks, performed with my hybrid setup with Elektron Analog Rytm MKII, Vermona Perfourmer MKII and Ableton Live.

I merged some existing tracks I played earlier this year with a similar setup and added a few new pattern on the AR.

This is one of them - these patterns enable me to play super smooth transitions between tracks that are played by Ableton / Vermona and tracks that are running on the AR (that's why you can hear random pad notes in this track - they are remains of the previous track in the setlist).

59 Perlen Vermona Perfourmer Jam 'Swim'

Hey my friends,

I have a few upcoming shows with the dance ensemble around Bernardo San Rafael titled "Shopping Bag". This piece premiered in 2022 in Stralsund and it is the first time that we have the chance to play it for the audience in Zurich and also in Germany again.

What makes it special is the fact that I sold some of the gear I originally used for this performance, namely the Squarp Pyramid for sequencing and the Novation Peak for some sound design. Since I somehow lost the backup files of the Squarp I had to re-write the MIDI sequences and also re-arrange some of the other sounds but It all went well and it sounds absolutely great.

The original performance was totally dawless, using the Pyramid, Elektron Analog Rytm, Novation Peak, Vermona Perfourmer, Big Sky Reverb and Grand Canyon Delay. Don't ask me how I got it…

Hey guys,

yeah, the Analog Rytm is back in the game! I am preparing for a performance with Bernardo San Rafael titled "Shopping Bag". This piece premiered in 2022 and its based on the Analog Rytm, so I had to dig in my file archive, copy the project file and start working with it. And I discovered once more the ease of this machine.

What should I say, I created 3 new dubtechno tracks in 2 days. still amazed how productive I can be with the Elektron Workflow. I also paired the Launch Control XL via a USB Midi hub so I can play some more complex performances in the future.

You can watch the Video below, it goes live on YouTube only Tomorrow. And you can dpwnload the WAV file of the Jam below as well.

Btw if have a sweet new YT Thumbnail design :D Do you like…

Hello my friends,

hows life with you? Here in Zurich it´s super hot but that doesn´t keep me away from my machines :) Today I have a brandnew recording of a new Dubtechno jam titled "Fusion" for you. Since I combined my current Erica Synths setup with the Vermona Perfourmer MKII, I thought this title makes sense :)

I make this post free for all tier members! There´s a second take which I gonna upload tomorrow exclusively for basic and advanced members.

Let me know what you think :)
