  • Dawless House Jam with Elektron Digitakt

Welcome to this weeks Digitakt Jam! The track is a little special as I added some Middle East Voice samples after I recorded the performance. These samples are so nice - I really love the collection of swells and vocal phrases. I strongly recommend to listen to this Jam with headphones to fully hear the bassline and low frequencies. And don't forget the next Jam will be something super special - I will present the Garagen Release Event on my and Atlas Castle's YouTube Channels! You don't wanna miss it, we kick off this Sunday 31st, 9pm CET on my YouTube!

  • Dawless Jam Session with Elektron Model:Samples and Digitakt

It turned out that my videos get the best exposure on Saturday night, so here's this weeks Jam, a sweet dub ambient house pattern. Once again, made with Elektron Model:Samples and the Digitakt. Unfortunately, there is misfunction on the MS which keeps track 2 playing reversed, even when I switch it back to normal mode - after a short while it goes back to reverse mode (you see it a couple of times in the video). If any of you guys has a fix for this, I'd more than happy to get to know these in the comments below as It appears also with other patterns I saved in the same project. Strange. Anyways, the track is even cool with track 2 playing backwards hehe I am using a couple of layered pad sounds on the Digitakt to shape a texture. There are also some loops I found in the library and re-played them at a different speed, they make a nice feeling (especially during the intro and outdo parts). I also use the Midi Loopback feature of the Digitakt to modulate the FX parameters.

  • OUT NOW: "Garagen", the Dawless EP with Atlas Castle

That's the dawless idea. But the journey doesn't stop here!

  • Dawless Dub House Synthjam on Digitakt only

Welcome to another Synthjam with my Digitakt! The track was written some time ago and I posted a breakdown video about it. Once again, the LFOs used for the pads are running on extremely low speed, creating an ever evolving background layer made of 2 different pad sounds. Let me know what you think guys!

  • Dawless Minimal House Jam with Digitakt only

Today’s jam happened in the forrest! As I love to take field recordings, I took my Digitakt and went out to the forrest near my hometown. It was a windy day, and so I took some recordings of the wind in the forrest, put it on the Digitakt and made a drone from it. If you like it, let me know 😎 happy Sunday!

  • Dawless Minimal Dub Techno with Elektron Digitakt

Right before the weekend kicks off, I have another some new music for you guys :) The track was created on a long train journey to Germany. It runs at a rather slow speed and features a great padsound, which is so extremely distorted that it almost sounds like the solo of an electric guitar. Do you like it? Let me know in the comments below!

  • First Dawless Octatrack Housejam with Digitakt, Digitone, Peak and TB-03

Things have been pretty turbulent for me over the past few weeks. Not only was I confined to bed for a few days, I also had some scoring project to finish and a lot of work in my company. And then there was the Octatrack, which I couldn't deal with as much as I wanted to until now because I simply had no time. At the beginning, I reset my rig and cleaned it up. I had a lot of respect for the Octatrack! Almost a little afraid as it seemed like I had to start once more at Zero. But after the first few tries and Tutorials,, that has already evaporated and I got a first impression of the immense capabilities that the machine offers. Finally, a first Jam with the new Elektron Octatrack So, after I spent some hours now, I can finally show you a first video with my new setup today! For now, the Octatrack plays a rather subordinate role. This is simply because I don't know it well and I still require quite a lot of training time to get into more complex pattern creation. But I wanted to start somewhere and so I set myself a first small goal, and that was to first of all connect the existing devices with the OT, get the routing right and somehow get a first jam going. That's why the Octatrack acts mainly as a mixer in this video for now. Setup, machines and audio routing Digitakt (percussion, texture - with 1.30 software), Digitone (Arp, Pad, Bass), Peak (Lead Pad), TB-03 (Accents), Big Sky Reverb, and the Octatrack (Sequences Peak and TB-03) are playing. A rather complex setting for 59 Perlen, but thinking towards my goal, it was important to understand how I can play my instruments together. That's why I also re-configured the rig again and placed the Elektron Machines very close together, so I can reach their knobs faster. Digitakt, Digitone, Peak, and TB-03 are routed into my mixer, the Big Sky sits on the send channel, and the mixer's sum runs into the Octatrack. Sounds quite simple, but the many key combinations that you have to remember, are sometimes so confusing that I'm already super happy that I got Midi and Audio managed to play something haha :) The video I took is quick and dirty - Octatrack main output went into my mobile interface (a Roland Mixer Go), which then recorded directly to the iPhone video. Therefore, the track was neither post-processed, nor mixed. Since the Octatrack unfortunately does not work with Overbridge, I will (have to) think of a new workflow for future tracks, depending on the setup. Also the structure of my tracks might change. By the way, I don't really make use of the 1.30 features of the Digitakt in this jam yet, but of course I played around. It's a HUGE update! Learn how to make your own house tracks with the Elektron Digitakt! Have a look on my Digitakt Online Class! It's a video course focussed on creating tracks with the Digitakt. It covers LFOs, Arrangement, Performing, Digitakt FX and many other interesting topics, plus it's upgraded with new lectures frequently.

  • Dawless Dark Dub House Jam with Elektron Digitakt and Digitone

Right before I celebrate the release of our Digitakt based EP "Garagen" on Friday 29 of January together with my mate Atlas Castle, I was in the mood to upload another Jam I was working on during the past weeks (and yes, Corona lets me working on lots of stuff!). Since a while, I was waiting for the moment when the time would come to finally add the Digitone to my track setup and this moment is finally there. I bought this very cool Synth a while ago, but after making some patterns with Digitakt and Digitone together, I felt like I need to practice the hell out of one machine first before I add the other one (no, the Model:Samples doesn't count as it's basically a second Digitakt for me). And that's what I did in the past months. And so yep, here is it, a track I titled "In the Night" as the vibe is kinda dark - little different than the tracks I created in the past. A bit faster, you hear some Berlin House like synth hooks coming from the Digitone, the Digitakt plays some very dark and warm pads and a pretty mystic whispering voice in the middle of the track. I might do a breakdown video from this track next week, is this interesting for you? Let me know :D

  • Elektron Analog Rytm MKII Chillout Jam

Welcome to the Canton of Valais! I'm here for a week of vacation and besides super nice hikes I took my Analog Rytm to make some noise, of course. This is my very first jam with the device ever and the goal was mainly to get to know some of the features I didn't know from the Digitakt yet. The track is called "Anniviers" (the name of the valley where our chalet is located). Of course I used the analog drum circuits of the Elektron Analog Rytm as they where one of the main reasons I've choosen it. You can also hear the Dual VCO playing a sweet bassline, which I modulate with the help of the ingenious Performance Mode and the LFOs. I really love the possibilities of the Analog Rytm and I can't wait to share more jams with you guys!
